We start with finding out about your company. We're looking for things like who your target audience is, what your brand mission is, what kind of websites and or branding you currently have, and the kinds of styles you like if you have any preferences. Then we study into the kinds of styles that will appeal to your target audience and the kinds of branding that will support your brand mission among other things. We see this as one of the most critical steps in creating a quality website that not only looks great but gets great results.
Once we have an idea about the kinds of branding that will work well for your company we will build mock-up websites or even basic websites that definitely aren’t finished but give a good idea of what we’re going for so we can see how well it works from a design perstpective. When we have a good example or two we’ll get your feedback on designs you like and any thoughts you may have or great ideas that pop into your head that we can add.
Once we have a design flushed out we build it into a finished website that not only is optimized to be found, is accessible and incorporates great design but also is optimized for an amazing user experience that engages your visitors and effectively communicates exactly how you can help them.
We don’t create boring cookie-cutter websites (unless a boring cookie-cutter website is going to get you a lot of customers) instead we take the time to look into who your target audience is and what kinds of things will appeal to them. Being able to speak to your target audience not just with words but with the entire brand is way more important than a good-looking website. If your brand doesn’t appeal to your audience you won’t be getting customers. That is why we take this step so seriously, Once we know what your target audience wants then we can design a website that will captivate them and get them curious about your brand. This leads to more people staying on your website for longer and more “just looking” people becoming happy customer people. It also leads to higher search engine rankings, leading to more people visiting your site and even more customers.
Designing a site to be user-friendly is a whole field on its own besides designing it to look good. Have you ever come across a site that looked cool but you couldn’t figure out how to navigate around it or it was super confusing as to what a button would do if you clicked on it? That’s bad UX design. The goal of Good UX is to make the website simple to navigate and obvious as to what everything actually does and generally just easier to use. Making a website User Friendly is way more important than just one that looks good, yes it needs to look good but if people start getting frustrated trying to navigate your site they will probably leave. That means fewer customers and it also means higher bounce rates which is a measure of how long someone stays on your site. If people are leaving your website too quickly it will lower your search engine rankings leading to fewer people even seeing your website to begin with and even fewer customers.
Obviously, a good-looking website is important. It helps build trust in your brand and delights your visitors with beautiful eye candy leading to more people staying on your website and more people buying from you. Good design is a very important piece of a good website from the balance of the elements on the page to the hierarchy of your content to picking out font pairings that work well together and send the right message for your brand. Color selection and the psychology of color are also super important to supporting your brand and saying what you want to say as well as things like the flow of content guiding your visitor's eyes around the page. A beautiful design that drives home your message and brand is a super important part of a good website and it goes without saying that it leads to higher conversations and more customers.
It is essential to make a website not just look and operate well for visitors who can see and hear well but also operates well for those who may have a disability by doing things like ensuring enough contrast between backgrounds and text to make your text easier to read, adding features like descriptions on images in the code of the website to make it easier for those who use screen readers to navigate your website and making sure videos on your website have subtitles or at least aren't dependent on sound for a good experience. We believe that the web should be accessible to all which is why we take this part of web design seriously and put thought and care into making sure your disabled customers have a great experience with your brand too.
We make sure that the websites we design work well on all devices. From devices with a narrow screen to ultra-wide monitors. Responsive design is a must in today’s web with mobile being even more important than a desktop layout as the majority of devices used to browse the web are mobile. Responsive design is pretty much a given in today’s world but It is surprising how many websites still get this wrong. Definitely don’t let that be your website. It looks super unprofessional, makes it difficult to navigate your site, and leads to higher bounce rates, fewer customers, and lower search engine rankings leading to even fewer customers.
A fast-loading website is good for two main reasons. First, if your website takes forever to load people will click off of it before it has even finished loading. Second Google is more likely to rank a faster-loading website higher in the search results than a slow one. A few milliseconds longer load time is not the end of the world but a few seconds longer and all of a sudden this becomes one of the most important things to fix. Most people are not going to wait around for more than a couple of seconds before leaving without even seeing your website and going straight to your competition. This is why we put a good deal of thought into building a site that loads very quickly and responds instantly once loaded so your visitors have a great experience with your brand.
